Creative Futures Programme at Lives Not Knives

Today was the start of a six-week creative programme with the charity, Lives Not Knives and UK Hip Hop artist, Rodney P, especially for unemployed young people who are on Jobseekers.  These six weeks will work towards putting on a music event, which will also provide the 16-24 year olds in attendance with various skills along the way.

Rodney P, who has appeared on television, films and radio, as well as having written musical theatre, says that the programme is “all about creative thinking”.  He also wants all of the individuals involved to “recognise [their] talent and be brave enough to go on and do it”.

The programme will have different workshops that take place three days a week – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – usually running from 2pm until 5pm.  Tomorrow’s session is a music production course at Matthews Yard, but everyone will initially be meeting in the Lives Not Knives unit at 1.15pm.
