Revamping Young People Insight’s branding has been on my mind for a while now, but I’ve finally decided to take action and I want you to be part of it.
I have always stressed that YP Insight is not my platform, but our platform. It is a platform led by young people for young people, which is why I’m launching this competition for young people (aged 16-26) to design our new logo, giving you the opportunity to be part of the process.
If you’re a designer, illustrator, visual artist, graphic designer or anything in between, this is your chance to shine. The logo will be used on our website, across our social media platforms, on merchandise, marketing materials and any other type of branding. We will make it clear who is behind the creation of the logo and you will also win £150.
That’s right – £150.
It is important for me to give something tangible back to young people, as well as giving them recognition. Young people are amazing talents, who deserve to be rewarded for that.
However, to create the best logo possible, you have to know what Young People Insight is all about. As I mentioned earlier, it is a youth-led platform, which is all about empowering the voices of young people and encouraging them to engage in their community.
My target age of young people is 16-26, as I feel that this is often the very awkward age of being a young person, when you may be leaving school and it is very easy to slip through the cracks, as support can often disappear once you turn 18.
YP Insight gives young people the opportunity to develop their communication skills, confidence, self-esteem and respect for others through monthly discussion groups, monthly poetry nights and writing for our blog. We encourage young people to make their voices heard, embrace their creativity and tap into their full potential.
Everyone who engages with YP Insight is immediately part of the YP Insight family, as we want individuals to feel loved, appreciated, comfortable and that there is somewhere they belong.
So if you feel that you can create a logo that will take the YP Insight brand to another level, get designing now. Just a few things to note before entering. You should:
- Be 16-26
- Be able to design a high res and high quality logo, which can be displayed across a range of media
- Understand the work of Young People Insight and capture that in the logo
- Be willing to hand over all rights of the logo to Young People Insight
The deadline for submitting your designs is the 6th December 2018.
Once your submissions have been received, I will choose my three favourite designs and put them up for a vote. The design with the most votes will receive £150 and become the new YP Insight logo. The winner will be announced on December 18th at our final event of the year.
