After the dragging on of January, we have finally made it to February! This means that the year should go a lot faster from this point on, and that we are focusing on love at YPI. That’s right; it’s all about different aspects of love for us this month, which makes us really happy, because love is at the core of our platform.
We’ll be starting by talking Self Love at The Kickback on February 19th, which stems from our conversation on Healthy Relationships last November. Self Love is very interesting, as it has only become a major talking point in recent years, so I can’t wait for us to contribute to the discussion.
The Kickback will be led out by our newest team member, Mhairi, so come along to give her plenty of support. There is also an opportunity for more of you to get involved as well, so if you are handy with a camera or a pen, we would love for someone to take photos on the night and someone to take notes for the write up. If you’re interested, please send a message to firstname.lastname@example.org with your skill set and why you would like to be involved.
After our special celebratory event last month, we’re back to normal, meeting at the usual time of 6.30-8.30pm in Project B. Get ready to engage in thought-provoking conversation, munch on snacks and meet some great people. You can register for free here: bit.ly/letstalkaboutselflove
DCF’s youth convention 2019
We’ll then be spreading some love by sharing poetry and running a mini Kickback session as part of Duffus Cancer Foundation’s Youth Convention 2019, supported by the Big Lottery Fund. They will be bringing 100 young people (aged12-19) together, including those affected by cancer, for a day of “thanksgiving and fun.”
In Croydon Town Hall, young people will create social networks and attend workshops focusing on well-being, healthy lifestyles and awareness raising. They will also hear from live speakers and enjoy entertainment, and a lot more. If you’re 12-19, register for free here to avoid missing out: bit.ly/2t0eXaq
We’ll then wrap up February with our annual ‘Love & Hate’ theme at Poetic Insight. We like to mix it up a little, which is why we combine love with hate, but they are basically two sides of the same coin. If you want to share your poetry or spoken word on the night, please email email@example.com or get in touch through social media.
Remember, we will be at Urban XChange Bar and Grill from 7-9pm, so be sure to get it in your diary so you go to the right place. It’s going to be a beautiful night, so get your free tickets here: bit.ly/poeticinsightlovehate19
We hope that you’ll show us some love by coming to one of our events this month, and we can guarantee that you’ll definitely feel the love from us. Whether we see you or not, we challenge you to carry out at least one act of love each day this month. Connect with us on social media to let us know how you get on.
